Formulation Guide

Recommended Concentrations

  • < 4%: minor exfoliation, in cosmetics for daily application
  • 4–12%: targeted application on prepared skin,
    special cosmetics
  • < 20%: Professional use

Optimal Effectiveness

  • We recommend working with a pH between 3.8 and 4.3.
  • If your formulation is sensitive towards low pH values, dilute GlyAcid® 70 HP with parts of the
water phase or pre-neutralize to pH ~4.0 prior to addition to the formulation.
  • The pH of the formula significantly influences the efficacy of Glycolic Acid. Glycolic Acid is 99% effective at pH 2.00, reduced to 87% at pH 3.00 and reduced to 50% at pH 4.00.
  • It is important to ensure that the formula has the optimal pH level for maximum efficiency.”
