Description

Ecogel™ is the first COSMOS-approved, natural gelling-emulsifying agent able to create light gel creams. Ecogel™ is a patented optimized combination of natural origin ingredients derived from a sustainable green process: lysophospholipids, xanthan gum, sclerotium gum, and pullulan. Ecogel™ is a polyvalent easy-to-use 3-in-1 lab partner thickening, stabilizing, and emulsifying agent, highly compatible with electrolytes and surfactants. Formulation Guide

Dosage and Applications

  • 0.3% - 2% (It is recommended not to exceed 2% to limit the pilling effect).
  • As skin feel agent > 0.3%.
  • As stabilizer and viscosity adjuster > 1%.
  • As emulsifier > 1.5%.
  • Ecogel™ used at 2% can emulsify up to 10% of the oil phase (may vary according to the nature of the selected oil phase).

Recommended PH

2.0 - 10.0 (below pH 2: opacification of the gel and above pH 10: darker colour)
Processing

  • Ecogel™ can be used via cold or hot (max 80°C) process.
  • No pre-dispersion is necessary. Premix in glycerin is possible.
  • Gelling agent for the aqueous phase and gelling agent with emulsifying properties for gel cream (addition before the emulsification step).
  • Addition at the end of the process: to stabilize or adjust the viscosity of an O/W emulsion.
  • Emulsion or gel-cream: mandatory to emulsify the formula under maximum speed to reduce the droplets of the emulsion, the use of rotor-stator
    is recommended.
  • To maximize the viscosity result, it is highly recommended to be under the highest shear conditions possible and to standardize them
    by using a rotor-stator type homogenizer and/or by applying the highest rotation speed possible.
